Provides spiritual support, pastoral care, and pastoral counseling to patients, families and staff. Refers as appropriate for specific needs. 7. Provides leadership for occasional worship services and general spiritual care events. 8. Participates in the assessment of Spiritual Health programming needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of CPE programs. 9. Engages regularly with the ACPE, denominational judicatories and other professional organizations to maintain good standing 10. Baylor Scott & White, Hillcrest (Texas) has an immediate opening for a Manager of Pastoral Services. Our next Manager will report to the Director of Pastoral Services and Clinical Pastoral Education in Central Texas, as well as serving as department representative to facility President or other leaders. The Manager of Pastoral Services will have the following responsibilities and attributes: – Set the vision for and the management of the Department of Pastoral Services at Baylor Scott & White Health – Hillcrest (BSW – Hillcrest) – Monitor and facilitate the date-to-day operations of the Pastoral Care Department, chaplaincy staff and pastoral volunteers, ensuring the provision of spiritual and emotional care, religious, sacramental, moral and ethical needs of patients and employees and physicians of the hospital. – Facilitate strong relationships within the greater Waco community, including community agencies and service organizations, local faith communities, Baylor University’s Truett Seminary and their students who are enrolled in the Central Texas CPE program at Temple, and who do their clinical work at BSW – Hillcrest. – Recruit, train, and coordinate pastoral care volunteers. – Oversee and supervise staff chaplains, PRNs and pastoral volunteers and mentor CPE student chaplains as they provide assessment and support for patients in accordance with joint commission requirements. – Actively participate as a member of a professional therapeutic team and provide spiritual care and counseling to patients and families. – Coordinate and provide consultation to physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and ancillary staff as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team to meet patient needs and to strengthen patient care. – Evaluate and recommend changes to policies and establish procedures that positively affect the managed organization. – Conduct investigative studies to advance knowledge and to develop ways and means for providing more effective religious ministry for patients, family and staff. |

Key Success Factors for the Candidate – Requirements, Skills and Abilities – Master’s degree (M.Div., preferred) – A unit of CPE. St. Cloud and Sioux Falls VA Healthcare System CPE Centers are accepting applications for the 2024-2025 CPE Resident program for the St. Cloud and Sioux Falls VAs. This is a 12-month, 4-unit program starting July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2025. At St. Cloud VA in Minnesota, we have four stipend Resident I positions and two stipend Resident II Fellow positions. At the Sioux Falls VA in South Dakota, we have two Resident I positions. This will be a virtual program between the two sites. Residents have the opportunity to work alongside Chaplain Preceptors and the Interdisciplinary Team serving our men and women Veterans.
At the St. Cloud VA, we expanded our second-year resident program to include tracks with Hospice/Palliative Care and Mental Health; both tracks will explore residential and outpatient settings. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Campus Life and Dean of Students, the University Chaplain provides leadership in fostering the spiritual life of the WFU community. Centering a multifaith, pluralistic approach to cultural and spiritual development, the Chaplain leads an office focused on meeting the needs of a spiritually diverse campus. The Chaplain carries out this mission by developing partnerships with academic departments, offices, groups, and organizations across campus. The Chaplain facilitates and supports the development of programs that address important religious and spiritual questions of the day. The Office of the Chaplain inspires commitment to the university motto Pro Humanitate by helping students, faculty, and staff of all faith traditions pursue meaning and purpose through spiritual reflection and free inquiry.
Our next Chaplain will have experience with supporting the religious and spiritual life of college or university communities and promoting interfaith and pluralistic cooperation on campus. They will be skilled in providing pastoral consultation in times of crisis and provide coordination among the multi-faith religious directors and their staff, as well as religious advisors based on or outside the campus. The ideal candidates will be comfortable educating students, faculty, and staff on faith-related topics. Administratively, the candidates will also have experience with budget management, recruiting, hiring, and coaching full-time and part-time staff. The Office of the Chaplain facilitates and supports two signature programs. The annual Pre-Orientation Summit introduces first-year students to the breadth of Christian life at Wake Forest University, allowing students to grow in their faith and develop relationships that will last throughout their college experience and beyond. We also coordinate and host the largest Moravian-style lovefeast in North America, one of the favorite Wake Forest Christmas traditions. Additionally, the Office of the Chaplain collaborates with the WFU School of Divinity and campus partners for other community-wide seminal events of celebration and meaning-making, including: Service of Remembrance, Homecoming, Easter Vigil, and Baccalaureate. |
